Nootropics are the Future
“The future of brain science, practical application brain science are Nootropics. These can enhance mood and cognitive function.” Dr Andrew Huberman, a neuroscientist and tenured Professor in the Department of Neurobiology at the Stanford University School of Medicine claims that nootropics are the way of the future.
If you haven’t heard of nootropics or haven’t experimented with them yet, it’s time. Nootropics ARE a big part of our future and the sooner you experiment and find what works for you, the more you will move toward your true purpose and calling in this life.
The Media is Taking Notice
The Atlantic discusses a journalist’s positive experience with nootropics, he used Alpha Brain from Onnit, and the effect on sleep, lucid dreaming and more.
The Daily Beast talks about Silicon Valleys obsession with nootropics and how to get a hold of some of the more illicit substances people are using.
Even Motherboard has an article on nootropic use in eSports and whether they are giving Gamers an edge.
Nootropics are popping up in the media more and more for good reason. People want an edge. We all want just a little more brain power, stress reduction and calm in the eye of a storm of incessant information ramming into a brain that likely wasn’t set up to move at such a fast pace.
The world is moving so much faster today. Some say things are happening too fast for our biology. The constant emails, notifications and other distractions and a 24 hour news cycle and a constant tether to our work via smartphones and instant messaging is more than some of us can take.
Nootropics Can Help You Deal
We here at Eris Fit have found really great success with nootropics (specifically Qualia based on it’s comprehensive stress reduction and neural enhancement formula). We think nootropics can help us cope with the barrage of stimuli hitting us every single day.
Some people try nootropics and don’t think they experienced anything. They wonder if they made a difference. With Qualia there has never been a time that we didn’t notice an improvement in brain function. In fact, the more we use Qualia (we’re now on our 4th full month) the more we really enjoy and appreciate the effects.
We have noticed both creativity and motivation go through the roof. In addition, the effects of minimization of stress and a feeling of control have increased. Work is becoming increasingly busy as Thaddeus builds a brand new team at work and transitions full time into corporate office work (coming off 8 years working from home). Chris is transitioning into a new career in addition to caring for his family and managing the majority of the Eris Fit work. With the increased business and stressors piling up, Qualia allows us to have a sense of serenity, likely coming from both the increased cognitive effects and the adaptogenic herbs modulating our stress response. It is much easier to stay present and do what needs to be done in the moment with skill rather than focusing on all the work ahead of us.
Other nootropics we have experimented with like Noopept, aniracetam, and Onnit’s Alpha Brain also created noticeable effects, but are not as complete a package of adaptogenic herbs, vitamins and minerals all in one. The power of Qualia comes from the combination and the mission of Neurohacker Collective to upgrade human consciousness.
We’re going to see a lot more come out of the nootropic world.
While nootropics are going to be a big deal in your future, whether you are an athlete, corporate worker, executive or entrepreneur, there are a handful of other practices you should be engaging in to take advantage of the space you’ll be given from nootropic enhanced brains. Many of these ideas are based on the podcast of Andrew Huberman from The Biohacker Secrets Podcast.
Take 5 Minutes Out Every Single Day
Even if it’s only 5 minutes, dedicate that time in the morning before you start your day to do just 5 minutes of meditation. Even if that’s just getting into the bathroom and setting a timer. Count your breaths in sets of ten and then start over. End after 5 minutes. If you can do more, then 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes at night is considered ideal for high performers.
Hypnosis is a very passive form of increasing brain function and upgrading your emotions and responses to life situations. This little known hack is an amazing way to help yourself get more out of life and create the type of emotional responses to life situations you want.
Hypnosis is a powerful form of brain training that uses trance and suggestion to help you relieve trauma and train useful responses to life situations.
The brain actually likes to be hypnotized. It’s far better to seek out hypnosis scripts that are useful to you versus letting the TV and commercials hypnotize you into wanting more and more and feeling inadequate and then wanting to buy yet more stuff.
If you don’t want to be hypnotized, then you will not be. But if you allow yourself to relax and be suggestible, you will have found a very effective way to retrain your brain.
We love Michael Sealy. He’s a hypnotist and popular Youtuber. He has a huge number of YouTube videos from helping you fall asleep to relieving anxiety to becoming a powerful man. We have been using a free YouTube to MP3 converter tool online to convert his YouTube videos into MP3 files. We can then place them on our phones and listen with our phones in airplane mode right before bed or immediately after waking up in the morning.
I also do this if you find myself waking up at inappropriate times and can’t fall back asleep. Just put in the sleep hypnosis track, put on your headphones or Cozy Phones and relax and fall back asleep.
Binaural beats help put your brain into a specific state that’s most useful to you at the time. Binaural beats plays music that you listen to with earbuds or headphones. The beat is slighting off from one ear to the other, thus asking your brain to try to compensate. The specific frequency that the beat is off sets up a wave form in your brain corresponding to the brain state you want.
If you need to relax, turn on the relaxation tracks. There are tracks for sleep, focus, relaxation and meditation. We have found these to be very useful, especially when at work in a noisy environment. Just put in the headphones on “focus” and get to work. Put the relaxation track on during your commute home to arrive refreshed and present when you walk in the door to see your family.
Modulating the stress response
Reducing stress comes down to keeping cortisol at bay. Cortisol and the stress response are out of control and chronically elevated in most of us these days. This is responsible for many disease states.
2g of Vitamin C per day in the morning can help reduce cortisol throughout the day.
Meditation daily will also help reduce stress and reduce cortisol response if done regularly.
Playful spirit. Make things a game. This helps reduce the stress response which makes it really hard to get creative and do your best work. When the outcomes are important keeping things in perspective and not taking yourself too seriously is a great way to stay creative.
Often we distract ourselves with movies and business because we are in a fear state, a stressed state or just avoiding dealing with problems in our life.
Getting back space in our life to do the work is crucial to move to the next level and experience our dreams.
Can’t Nootropics do All This For Us?
The short answer is no, they can’t do it for us. But combined with the right daily practices nootropics can help give us the space we need through:
- Increased motivation
- Increased ability to focus
- Modulation of the stress response
- Better neuro connection and enhanced cognitive processing
- Increased creativity
Nootropics aren’t for everyone, and I never thought I would even experiment with them. They sure have proven to be beneficial to us and we think they will play a big part in our future.
